Archiving on DVD

I'm having a heck of a time getting FCP to print to video without dropping frames, so I'm giving up on archiving to tape.

When you guys archive to DVD, how do you do it? Do you just burn a copy of the DVD via something like DVD Studio Pro and use the .VOB files for backup, or do you backup copies of QuickTime files?

If you want to have the full quality images then save as QT files as data to a DVD.
If you save as a playing DVD then it's converted (compressed even further) to MPEG2 format. This also means if you need to rework the files you'll have to use some type of extracting progra to reconvert back to DV or other format.
