Aputure Nova P600c

Looks good. Based on how good the P300C is I would probably choose this over a Nanlux Dyno 650C. Both about the same price and output.

Not sure if just getting 2x Nova P300c is a better deal though… this is almost exactly double the price of a a P300C

Strange timing for me. I just picked up a 300c a day before this announcement. My first impressions of the 300C are very positive...
This 600C looks impressive... especially if the fixture itself is more or less the same size / weight... but specs aren't listed yet...

I asked about the weight on their FB page and haven't gotten a reply. I wonder if that's because it's still a prototype and not finalized. Their website also doesn't list weight under all of the specs, which is an odd way to release a product.

All that said, there is no way that it weighs the same as the 300c which, despite the rectangular shape, is closer to a 1x1 panel than a 2x1 panel. The new one is definitely in the 2x1 category so it must be heavier (?).

I'm going to hold off on these. It gets into the territory where I'd rather rent, not just because of cost, but because of weight, storage space, and honestly, because my back does not want to deal with gear and required stands that are this heavy on jobs that require them. At that point, I'd rather just hire the gaffer to deal with all of that lugging if I really need it. My COB's are still in a weight zone that I do ok on my own with just an assistant, storing them all at my place and doing the load in and load out of my place on my own.

BTW, the Titan X2 is currently $3500. Sidus app aside, I wonder why someone would choose this over the Titan X. I haven't used the Titan, so I'm just going on specs and reviews, but it seems like a killer fixture if you're looking for a 2x1.

However, if you do want all of the color bells and whistles and are building a set, then the app thing is a....thing. And that's how they get ya! Can you say Apple?

Brighter, cheaper, lighter and integrates with the other Aputure lights. Seems much better than the titan x2

Thanks! That's great info to know. I guess those output numbers make sense since the Titan and Arri draw a max of 420W while the Nova draws 720W.

Though, I'm not sure where Aputure is getting those weight numbers for the Titan. All of the spec sheets and reviews I've seen for that fixture say that the fixture is 23.37 Lbs with standard Yoke and that the power supply is 8.51 Lbs, so very similar to Nova P600 when combined and you can put the power supply lower on the stand, thus not needing a Combo stand with Junior receiver. That's not really a pro/con, just different depending on preferences and needs. I don't really own or want to own Junior pin size gear, but would rather rent that stuff, so I tend to stay in the baby pin zone for stuff that I keep at home.

Edit: Titan also has a junior receiver.

The main unique feature of the Titan is that controllable diffusion. The aputure at least has a removable diffusion panel, but obviously an electronically continuosly controllable beam angle is a more sophisticated way to go.

In any case, for the same price, the Aputure is definitely a much more powerful light and it's definitely the ecosystem that I use most frequently. I'll rent it when needed.

^ yeah, aputure does tend to make some ‘mistakes’ when talking about competing products. They said the Gemini was lighter because it was made of ‘mostly plastic’. I own one myself as well as a P300C and the gemini probably has more metal in its construction than the Aputure… the entire thing feels like metal except the fan housing.
