Aputure Leds - Daylight vs Bicolor?

Need Advice: Do you think buying a the 300x from amazon would be ok. I ordered it through BH but they said they had and now I am told it is out of stock. Can't really find it from anyone that I know of. Or I might just rent. I have never bought anything that precise or expensive from amazon before.

Out of stock is a common complaint/problem with Aputure. I own Chinese clones for this reason.

For higher powered leds gels directly clipped to a reflector is too close and more importantly traps the heat. You need some sort of stand-off or holes.

If that light is being sold by Amazon, or through a known retailer using Amazon, then that's probably OK. But if you haven't heard of the seller, then I'd be cautious. I googled up a few dealers who -say- they have the 300x in stock. Of course, give them a call (or send email or something) to make sure they actually do (ie- these places won't cheat you, but there may be a lag between their inventory and their website). And note that I looked at the versions that support V-mount batteries.

Thank you Jim,- I did some searching actually checked with two of your above recommendations before - return policy a bit stringent. I bought from AMAZON through the APERTURE store and carefully checked. They have a US warranty and accept returns. When I get i will see if the warranty is US. I am pretty sure it will be. I even called AMAZON and they say they are legitimate dealers. I was going to rent it - but would rather own.

Larry

Good that you checked they were proper resellers. Biggest problem with Amazon is that many of the sellers are gray market resellers. That means that they are not authorized manufacturer's resellers. If you buy from them and something goes wrong with your product the manufacturer will likely not honor the warranty.
