Aputure Araman lighting kit

David, could you please elaborate which monitors you are referring to?

many thanks

Blackmagic has the "Video Assist" 5" 1080p touch screen monitor that also records ProRes 10-bit 1080p.
Sound Devices has a new 5" monitor recorder with mostly the same specs. I think it's called the Pix-E 5.

Not to belittle your review, but as far as resolution goes they do provide display info online before you purchase that the monitor is 1024x600. Also be aware that there are very few 7" field monitors that have an actual resolution of 1920x1080.
As far as the color and luminance being incorrect, you can adjust both via menu controls.
And concerning your shoot being ruined, the monitor does display histogram, peaking, zebra, and false color for judging focus and exposure.
Ok, so "useless" can have been a tad strong word. I guess you can get some use for it if you're willing to battle it's deficiencies. Me, I just feel it's not a very good product. Not as a main monitor for critical situations.
if anyone is looking to buy one, mine is for sale ;)

Wonder if the OP (or others who have experience with this Aputure kit) can comment a bit on how it's been working with them?

Very interested as I'm looking for a reasonable first lighting set up. Thanks.

Good lightweight, compact kit. The quality of light is great. The quanityof light is much less than you might be used to if you were using incandescent or even fluorescent lights in the past. The light is also a bit harsh and needs to be diffused which cuts down on output. I bought a 672 kit with 2S and 1W and all in all happy, but I added a Lowel Tota up my output...
