Aputure 300d

Does anybody know how to calculate how much light a light generates at certain meters?

Pixapro 100dii
50cm: 35,800 lux
1m: 8400 lux
5m: ??

Aputure 120d
50cm: 14000 lux
1m: 3300 lux
5m: ??

Aputure ls1s
50cm: 30300 lux
1m: 10500 lux
5m: ??

1: By looking up these lumens. I am actually surprised would this mean my aputure ls1s is brighter at 5meter then a Pixapro 100dii/aputure 120t which is more tunneled?? Now im confused, I thought it would be much brighter then a ls1s.
2: What would the lux be for each light at 5m??

These aren't lumens. They are lux readings, and they don't include the beam angle which is a critical element when comparing. The Pixapro has a 45 degree beam angle. The 120d has a 120 degree beam angle. The LS1s has a 25 Degree beam angle, which is very spotty for a panel. You need the fresnel attachment on the 120d to compare the lux readings to the narrower beam angle of the other two fixtures.

Color fringing like this happens to Lekos as well.

Does anyone know if there's something like a Bowens mount to Leko mount adapter? I'd love to be able to place these inside a leko, or at least for there to be a reasonably priced LED leko that had good CRI.

ETC make an expensive LED version of their source 4, which can give you the hard cuts you're used to from their tungsten lekos. ETC are obviously doing something different and it must not be that easy.

Does anybody have a LS1S and a 120D (or pixapro) with a fresnel attachment, and can do some tests (with, without lightmeter). As I do not seem to be able to find this information anywhere and it is kind of a big deal before ordering a 120d or 300d. If its not a lot brighter then a LS1S then I dont need to bother.

My advise
Do not even think about anything with less light output then 300d . I have it now ,and to be honest I expected more light . If you do not have any light ,300d is good for start . I am so happy that I did not get 120d .

do you plan using it with the v-mounts? As I am not sure, If I ever will get in a situation where I will use this light where there is no power supply. I mean if I am shooting in the woods, I will not be taking this with me. Maybe on some industrial sites.
How long can you use the light before the batteries run out?

QUESTION: Does anyone know if the fixed 300D with no color fringe etc has a different serial or product number than those who weren't fixed? I mean... how can we be sure that the reseller are carrying fixed lights only?

I just tried to do a comparison between movie makers in the us and europe... in relation to gear. Basically just sat down and made the same kit in BH, CVP and a local store, and what makes it suck to be in Europe is that all though we get tax back after filing it, we have to pay it to begin with.

This is the kit I put together:

- 300D
- Fresnel
- Elinchrom 100cm deep octa (better at making lightshaping tools than aputure)
- S mount for octa
- 4 Dynacore batteries 150wh with build-in charger ( I don't think they are that common in the states, but they are popular here), but in the us package I added 4 IDX with a dual charger.

US price: approx. 2.500 dollars
UK price: approx. 3.000 dolllars
DK price: approx. 4.200 dollars...

So... yeah... 1.700 dollars difference... that's a lot! :O even just buying the light alone has a price tag difference of 526 dollars :( Maybe it's time to root for that one world government thing ;)

Question....(I may have missed this, my apologies),
Does the Aperature 300d cast a hard single shadow?

Thanks!

How will you deal with the noisy fan? Do you shoot dialog often?
