Hey guys, I haven't seen any threads on the pros and cons between these two lights on here. If there is please let me know and I'll delete the thread.

I just wanted to get some feedback from anyone that's used any of these two lights. By the end of the year I'd like to have the 120D and two 1s' to make it a 3 point setup. But I just want to know which would be better to buy first since I'm going to buy one at a time. I haven't seen any places say which is brighter and which light is better for at certain scenarios. So I'd like to hear your guys feedback about these lights and which would be better to get first. Thanks guys!

You know the 120D has a version 2 coming out sometime this year? While I'm not a fan of all the connection points found in version 1. I am really not a fan of panel lights. With the 120 I can use it with the fresnel or I can place it in a soft box and have a nice big light source or I can bounce it off foam core. For me a more useful light than a panel

What works best depends on how you're using them. The Light Storm COB fixtures are more versatile with the Bowens mount for a ton of different diffusion options like beauty dishes and soft boxes.

The Ls1s is bright and wide. Great for punching through a 4x4 or a larger diffusion frame or add a softbox. Basically, they are very different lights and you need to figure out what you need so you get the right type of light.

@Erik, surely no one is actually using beauty dishes with these lights? For video work, they'd be a complete waste of money and space.

@Bonksz, if you want a nice soft light on a single stand, you're better off with the 120d. Using the dome softbox or even mini version, you'll end up with a larger area of diffusion than any (that I know of ) softboxes compatible with the light storm.

What? I have one and it works great. The Light Dome isn't small by any means. The point is the COB Light Storms are versatile with the Bowens mount. Geez.

Which beauty dish do you use? Maybe I was being too harsh but transporting a handful of delicate beauty dishes is not fun.
