I’ve always found it interesting the geekiest involved with these things, like people hate the hassle of building a softbox or adding an eggrate, but are eager to think this is “the light”. However, with battery power becoming more and more viable in bright LED’s, i’m sort of coming around to these types of lights for the first time.

For me the biggest issue is control, however it looks like they do have some on the way. They're such an odd shape as well. The other thing is they come with diffusion which probably cuts a stop, so you'll lose power otherwise you're stuck with seeing the individual LED's if it's in shot. If they were such a shape that two created a 1X1 equivalent, they may be more useful. I guess the shape suits a ring light style config, which is not something I use a lot if at all.

The other questions I have are, how do they stack up in wear and tear from regular usage? No way to control them wirelessly? It's 2021. The pricing is putting them just below a lot of other tried and tested options an Aperture MC4 kit comes to mind.

Seems a bit fiddly/gimmicky

But for travel/backpack it might be an interesting option.

Quit expensive though
