One of my very annoying friends was being well... very annoying today.

I thought in the spirit of April 1st I would try to get her, just once.

Well, she IMed me (AOL Instant Messenger) and was going on and on about how she'd LOOOOVE to act in the SpyFest entry.

I told her to call me so we could talk about it.

This is where - the hook - she said she didn't have my number.

Perfect! Here's where it began.

I told her... 1-911-451-4753.

She called it.

They called her house, she hung up...

and apparently, 2 cop cars and an ambulance showed up at her house.

All I could say was, "April Fools?"

Wow!

Well... it may not be funny now, but it'll be a story to tell down the line a bit (if you're still friends, that is)

Yes, I know all about April Fool's jokes as one happened to me today and since they deleted my thread (April Fool's?), I will now use this thread to tell it.

SUBJECT: WORST APRIL FOOL'S JOKE EVER!!!

My ex-girlfriend calls me to tell me she's four months pregnant. I just about lost control of my bowels in the middle of the Bally's parking lot. I think I ended up sitting down in the middle of the street and talked to her about how we were going to have to make some tough decisions, that I would have to get a better-paying job to help pay for the baby, and all the thoughts and emotions that go through your mind when you realize you're going to be a father for the first time. And then she told me April Fool's. After 20 minutes of me spilling my heart. So now all I have to do is get her back. Any ideas?

Not to repost this because the original thread got deleted.

I hit back button like 8 times and archived it, too good to be true :)

She's really mad at me right now, I don't know how it will be.

We're good friends so I don't think it's a problem, I'll post when she calls me to see what happened with the "authorities".

Zach, I was hoping this could become the sort of "April Fool's" thread. Where we all share our April Fool's experiences. Okay, that's not true, I just wanted to give the mods a little more work since they didn't have the courtesy to message me why it got deleted. This message will self-destruct in.... whenever the mods find it. In the meantime... April Fool's?

She just called me, saying that everything was okay.

Because they were volunteer PD they understood and apparently just drove away.

She didn't tell them who I was, I was worried about that.

As an ex 911 operator I have to say you should donate some funds to your local police department for your idiocy. People like you cost our country millions of wasted dollars a year which could go to any number of useful things. Not only that but you also might of cost someone their property, life, loved one because of your "Joke". The next time you think that telling a friend to dial an emergency response number is a joke please do us all a favor and stay quite.

Well, you're right, and I feel really bad.

Surprisingly, it wasn't my police station, she lives in a different town. Maybe I'll donate some money to them.

I also should have stressed more that I didn't TELL her to call 911, I merely told her that was my phone number.

On another note, it was her hanging up that caused them to come to her house, not her calling. I believe if she had said, "I'm very sorry, I accidentally dialed you, I'm not having a problem", instead of hanging up, there wouldn't have been a problem.

If that had happened, I'd donate whatever money they lost for that phone call.

You're right, it was stupid, and in hindsight I shouldn't have done it, and I might have cost someone their property or their loved one or their life.

Whatever dude. He already said it was stupid, that he was sorry, that he felt bad, and that it wasn't his intention to cause all the fuss. No need to be a jerk about it.

HD's got a point. Though Zach's intent wasn't for this outcome, giving his friend the number obviously led to it.

Of course its regrettable in hindsight...but I wouldnt beat yourself up over it. You weren't trying to cause any harm and obviously wouldn't have given you're friend that number if you actually thought she'd call it.

Though Zach's intent wasn't for this outcome, giving his friend the number obviously led to it.

Whats he supposed to do...? If we sat and pondered the chain of events that each of our actions may or may not cause, we would go crazy. I understand that its different when an outcome can easily be seen...but in this case I don't really see him in the wrong. The only one that acted with any idiocy was his friend.

Yeah, that response is ridiculous. Who would've thought that someone would actually dial 9-1-1 if you gave them the number? That's not his fault, it's hers. And if he should donate funds for a series of events that led to an unidentified 9-1-1 call, then so should the 50 million Americans who have 9-1-1 on cellphone speed dial who accidentally call the police when the phone is in their pocket. And they should all be yelled at by you so they can feel extra bad about it. "YOU HAD A PHONE IN YOUR POCKET AND YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT THAT IT COULD POSSIBLY CALL 9-1-1! YOU IDIOT. YOU SHOULD DIE!" But of course, an isolated unintentional call to 9-1-1 is much more important than all those calls. Part of me thinks that boneheaded post had nothing to do with the truth and everything to do with a bad day. But I digress.
