Approaching a Band for Music.

Hi guys, I was just wondeing if anyone knew how to professionally go about talking to a band that has produced a song to aggree to letting you use it in a film, i understand it can cost alot, i just dont want to just send an email saying "hi blah blah im so so would i be able to use your song etc" or would that be the way to do it? I dont want to come accross as too professional as they may charge more for the license, or is that just stupid talk? Hope you can help.

Find the contact for the management and label. Contact them first before contacting the band. Write an email about your film and the idea of using their song.
