Appreciate prayers...

Hey guys-

Just wanted to take a quick second and update you on our current situation... we had our new baby girl on Tuesday the 8th. 7lbs 1oz, 21 inches long.

Unfortunately, she stopped breathing this past saturday after we brought her home, so we've been at the hospital since then.

I've been trying to get in touch with everyone and keep people informed why I haven't been heard from or around lately, but I haven't had a spare second to slip
away and make much contact with the outside world. We've been up here since she stopped breathing on Saturday, and they're saying we'll be here "for awhile". She's hooked up to a barrage of monitors, machines, etc, and has a feeding tube down her nose. They determined she has central apnea, which basically means her lil brain forgets to breathe on it's own sometimes. She also has reflux, so her food doesn't always stay out of her throat. They've run everything from EEG's, CT scans, numagrams, Ph probes, and everything in-between. The doctors explained it to think of it as she's a 34 gestational week old vs a 38 week old. She's just not mature enough to handle everything on her own. Her doctors are excellent though, and are
taking a very aggressive approach to testing, just to make sure they leave no stone unturned.

I'll try to keep in better touch and give more frequent updates as we get them.

Life is full of challenges kai, you and you're familly have just been given a whopper. My thoughts are with you all. I'm really hoping all goes well and that your little one pulls through this OK. Keep the faith and I'm sure many prayers will come your way.

my heart goes out to you guys. glad to hear she is in good hands, just stay positive man, keep your head up!

keep us posted when you can.

Sorry to hear that Kai--I'm sure it must be hard on you and your family. You and the little Kai-ette are in our thoughts and prayers.

Kai,

I've been where you are, or close to it. My son needed open-heart surgery not long after he was born. I know that this crap is scary. Seeing my boy hooked up to all those machines was one of the toughest things in my life. My prayers are with you. If there is anything I can do, let me know. Even if you want to talk.

It sounds pretty promising though, from what you are saying. She just needs some time to catch up. She'll be running circles around you before you know it.

Thanks for sharing.

Glad to hear she is in good hands. We are all pulling for her and your family. No worries about us, good, good, luck to you.

Thanks for letting us know. Prayers are powerful things. I'm passing the word as we type.

And if you don't mind...

(Dear God, please give your strength to little Ellee Raegan as she struggles to enter this world to do the great things you have planned for her. Give strength to Kyle and his wife to bare the weight of what you are asking them to witness. Please bless the doctors that they may find the right combination of treatments to complete the miracle you have given the Stauffers. We ask this humbly in your name...)

Be strong... Your wife and daughter need you.

Mike

best wishes kai. Really hope she gets better, and my prayers are out to your daughter and your family!

Sounds like she is under good supervision from the doctors. I'm wishing best of luck to you and your family.

Kai, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Be positive in it and strong for your wife. I worked pediatric medicine for years, and she sounds to be in good hands. The scariest part in this whole thing is to be uneducated about her condition, so ask alot of questions, maybe the hospital even has a resource library you could browse on breaks from being with your daughter. Learn all you can about what's going on with her. And we are all sending your family our very best.

I'll keep you all posted, and thanks again.. we really appreciate it.

I wish the best to you and your family.

That's a really scary situation. Luckily you were on top of it and were able to get her to the hospital. You're showing the true colors of a good parent.
