Applying new Damping Fluid to Manfrotto 501 Head?

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone out there has ever given this a try.

I bought the fluid for $30 (a super tiny vial, I might add) and I'd like to see if anyone has any pointers/tips/tricks on how to get this 501 back in shape.

Are you sure the 501 is even a fluid head? This has been discussed with differing opinions.
