Applying effects to a part of the frame

How do I do this? I'm trying to get rid of some vignetting and want to select the corners of my footage and make them brighter etc.

Hope this is possible.

Thanks

Can you attach a sample frame of what you're trying to achieve. This could be fixed in Motion with masking, with FCP using garbage matte or in Color with secondary color correction and a user shape.

Say I have an image like this and I want to brighten the vignetted corners. I've been playing around with garbage matte in FCP; I think this would solve the problem. How do I apply effects to the area selected by the Garbage Matte?

Thanks

What I would do is NOT use a garbage matte, but try and recreate the vignette with a shape. Then invert the shape and use ... um... er... multiply?? composite mode to let the image thru the white and CC that. Then you can nest it and put it over another instance of the video.

Sorry - that's confusing. As soon as I'm done capturing I'll give it a shot and let you know how it came out... with better directions.

Sure a vignette or an image mask. To be honest you could do this in about 20 seconds in Motion with a bezier mask and feathering.
