Applying de-interlace in FCP

In FCP, is de-interlacing supposed to be a poor man's way of creating a progressive look? The manual says it minimizes video blur and pixel edges and stuff like that.

Also, if I were to apply de-interlace my entire project, let's say this consisted of 90 clips, how would I do this?

Would I simply go Apple A, or would I need to use the drag and select technique with the mouse?

Thanks,
RC

open the filter in the viewer to the settings you want, highlight the whole timeline then drop it in.
