Applying Audio Filters

Okay, so I need to apply audio filters to my audio. So I tried dragging the effect onto the timeline but then when I adjusted the filter, nothing changed. I'm obviously doing something wrong. I've tried every filter and no matter how much I adjust, nothing happens. I'm new to FCP, I used to use premiere.

Please help.

After dragging your audio filter onto your clip within the timeline, did you then double-click your clip to load it into the Viewer? Do that, then put your playhead over your clip within the timeline so you see it within the Canvas as well. Make your change within the Viewer and you should see the change within the Canvas (although you are doing audio clips so I guess you won't "see" anything). But the same applies for video filters.

Different people have different workflows/styles but one common technique is to load your clip into the Viewer first (by double-clicking it within the timeline), then dragging your filter onto the clip within the Viewer, where you'll see the filter applied (before changing any settings).
