Applying 16:9 crop globally to all clips in timeline?

How can I apply a crop setting, e.g. 16:9 to an entire timeline of clips without having to "paste attributes" to each and every clip?

Thx!

Got Vegas 6?

Open up the project .veg file inside another (empty) one. It'll treat the whole thing like just another Track.

V6.

Yeah, I was reading a V6 review by DSE and he mentioned that thing about opening a .veg file in another empty one but I wasn't quite clear about what he was talking about, I'll give it a try now. Thanks!

..ok, so that seems to work, but when I open the newly modified .veg file that I applied the 16:9 crop to globally, all the distinct clips are merged together. I'm hoping I can apply the crop to the entire project, 50+ clips, but I want to do it before I join them all together, while I'm editing as I prefer to edit with the 16:9 crop in place.

Oh, well, in that case....you can do it with a script.

If you can figure out how to write it. Something I've never been able to do...

BUT...if you just want to get an idea of what it will look like while you're editing...but a mask on the first Track (make a new empty one up there), and it will mask out anything below it.

There is a free script to do this. Go to the VASST website in the Software/Plug-in section and download Celluloid. The core Celluloid script is free (even though the pages says $24.95 you only pay if you want the ReelPak) This means you can download the core Celluloid plug-in and convert your entire project to 16:9 for free. It will add the crop to each event individually so you can modify it if needed.

We also have a Freeware section of plug-ins. It’s our way of saying Thank You to our customers (and future customers) for supporting us.

Thanks for all the tips.

So, is this functionality so unusual that they wouldn't include it in the product? I though a lot of people shoot native 4:3 and then crop the entire project 16:9.

I'm looking forward to checking out celluloid to see what else it does as well.

Just get Ultimate S2 ... it' has the function to adjust everything in your project/bin ... I use that feature often.
