Apple's rationale for calling projects 'Events' and sequences 'projects'?

The event library is far more flexible than FCP 7 browser. Independent of sequences / projects. As others have noted, it can be organized however you want to organize it. And with 10.0.6 released, being able to edit something together, create a compound clip and then store that edit in the event library is *wonderful*!

However, I *HATE* the name "event library". It's just not pro.

Seriously, it is just a "word". It is not that dreadful. It does not hold anyone back in any way. An event is the result of something. We have events in mathematics, programming, etc. Shooting scene 1 is an "event". So what? How does one word slow you down and hamper you so much? Honestly.

Why didn't anyone get upset over the use of the word "bin" when it was a "folder"? A folder is not a bin. But who really cared?

Why do you refer to digital files as "footage" when it is in fact not "footage" of celluloid film?

Let the flaming begin...

Events to remember.

iPhoto automatically organizes your photos by Event, so you don’t confuse that shot of your best friend celebrating her birthday with the one of her celebrating New Year’s. When you connect your camera or insert your SD card, iPhoto groups your images according to the day they were taken. That’s a comfort to both the perpetual shutterbug and the chronic procrastinator. If you like, you can turn multiple Events into one large Event. Just drag one Event onto another to merge them. And you can label each Event with a meaningful name, like “Mark’s recital” or “Riley’s graduation,” so it’s easy to find everything. Thanks to iCloud, iPhoto can even import your Photo Stream images for you and organize them as Events.

Just plug in your device, open iMovie, and start importing your video. It appears in your Event Library — the one place you’ll find everything you’ve ever recorded. Just like photos in iPhoto, videos are organized by Events. And as your collection grows, you can rate clips as “favorite” or “rejected,” tag them with preset or custom keywords, and filter them so you can find the best scenes (or hide the ones you’re not thrilled with).

Im just explaining the cultural background to the linguistics - the rationale as the OP desired.

Bin, folder, virtual diretory, event - I dont care
