Apple moves to Intel Chips!?

all I ever hear is how stable OSX runs!

Let me start off by saying that I don't find it that stable. I have to admin 9 of these things, and I'm almost positive that they crash on purpose every time I'm busy with something. Then I have to go help some freshman figure it out.

As for the switch, I think this will be beneficial for all users, mac and non mac. Since OSX is based on UNIX, and Apple is switching to an x86 architecture, software manutacturers will have to adjust software. With the UNIX base of OSX, it will be all the easier for companies like Adobe to release pure UNIX and Linux versions of their software, something that I would personally love to see. 64 bit support would also be nice.

Do you think apple will have an upgrade to put an intel proseser into the current G5 when it comes out?

Chapman, no.

And I agree, OSX is pretty stable, but XP is pretty stable too if you don't install viruses and spyware by accident.

Here's the stream of the keynote. Pretty convincing, as I was very skeptical about a PowerPC to Intel transition.
