APPLE .MAC account

Does anyone here utilize the .mac account from apple? I am thinking about paying for the one year use. I would only use it to make a generic webpage then upload my projects to it. What are the limitations for uploads? How compressed do projects have to be?

Shooter -- I've got a .mac account and there are NO limitations to compression.

I just switched to iWeb (still based on my .mac account).

Here's my page. http://www.threeboysproductions.com

You can set up blogs for the videos or as you'll see on the lower right just straight links.

The cool thing about the blogs is you can have people subscribe to them and they'll come up in the podcast section of iTunes.

Well -- I've put up full NTSC DV material before and it runs fine. I use both h.264 and sorenson3 on my website now.

I've sized them 480x320 and I've sized them 200x???.

I've over compressed and given raw. It really doesn't matter what you throw up there.

NOW -- I first started using .mac HOMEPAGE which is where you use their templates and such for building a site. That didn't work as well as their movie pages were VERY specific for compression and I could only get it to work on something that I did in iMovie... early on.

So I bought Macromedia and started building my own sites. They uploaded fine and again, anything I put up would work fine.

Just this last month I bought iLife06 and used iWeb to build this new site. The movie pages again range in multiple compression formats. All work great.

Hope that helps a bit.

I tried looking at your site well your videos anyway and they wouldnt play. I just got the big ol Q sitting there. I am using quicktime 7.3

Cap'n, Thanks for the info. Very helpful for me. I appreciate it.

Your site lookd fun but the videos also did not load on my computer.

Sorry about them not loading...

If you get the Q without the question mark it just takes time to get them going. (a drawback I feel that's apple's fault. server speed.) Most of them are marked to start playing as soon as they get a little loaded. Unfortunately some aren't flagged that way -- sorry, I just forgot to encode it with that flag.

Now -- most ARE QT7 - so if you don't have latest QT you won't be able to see them anyhow.

and yes, iWeb is only iLife06.
