I have the 23" display.
I have not regretted the purchase one bit.
Can't wait to go to HD DV.
I think it will meet my needs for years to come re HD, 16:9, etc.
I am going to be purchasing the 23 inch HD soon. They just recently cut the price from $1999 to $1799. There really aren't many displays that compare to the Apple Cinema displays. I understand that there was an issue with the 23 inch HD where there was a pinkish hue cast over images on the screen. There are discussions on Apples' Support page about the issue but it has since been cleared up. I believe it had to deal with the first batch of displays that were shipped back in June. I just love the aluminum finish of the displays.
I'm using a 23"HD on a second system and it's killer. They're certified for color sync calibration so they're very accurate. I like it much better than my main dual 21" Sonys.
But now why did you get the 23in instead of the 20in. His workspace very important and is there a signifiant difference between 23in and 20in because the ¨3in¨ more of the 23in are very expensive to get! :-/
Not saying anything is wrong with the Apple Displays but I bought me a nice 19" flat screen monitor for only $550 back in 2003. That 30" is niiiiiiiiice!!!! I have been tempted to take my G5 downstairs and hook it up to my 42 inch plasma!
It's just saying that it's certified (by pantone, etc) for acurate color. This mainly applies to print production. That said though, it's still pretty dang acurate in other areas. You can pipe a full HD signal to it right out of Final Cut HD, so they obviously had that use in mind.
I realize this is kind of a newb question but how extactly would I hook up the cinema display to an hd/hdv camera to realize it's (HD camera's) full quality?
Actually, personally, I would rather buy two Dell 20" at around $650 so that's $1300 http://tinyurl.com/2cwms . With the money I saved, I would buy a sweet ATI Radeon X800 XT for $499. Now I can jam in Motion....
BTW, I do have the Dell 20" and it rocks for the price.
