apple 20" cinema display

best investment i've ever made, well besides the camera. other monitors make my eyes hurt after a while, the apple display is soo nice. especially the firewire ports, soo good.

I've got one here at home, and the Dell 20" at work. Ironically my Apple display is on my PC and the Dell on a Mac!

I can't tell the difference between the two. The Apple looks marginally nicer (edit: the physical casing, I mean), but I'd say save your money and get the Dell, unless you really want the Firewire ports on the Apple (which are nice).

I have worked with both. I own the Dell 24" WLCD. They are both great but I would easily go with the Dell for your money. There isn't a difference between the two in my opinion in actual performance...I have heard the same from others who have used both as well. If you absolutely must see an Apple logo sitting on your desk though then I guess you'll be forking out the extra dough.

I have the apple 23 and love it. Still it cost me an arm and two legs. If the Dell have been available 1 1/2 years ago I think I would have saved my money and gone that way.

I got the 20" wide screen back in July for $400.00. I love that thing; I wish I would have bought two. Oh well, I'll wait for the new 30". Also when I was researching the dell monitor I found a couple of sites (Non that I could remember though...) that stated both the dell and the apple displays have the same exact guts, made by the same company. The only difference is that apple has a brighter backlight. Not too sure if it’s true or not but looking at both together I can't tell a difference.

Hey dougspice, when's the next MAYDAY? Would it be May? "May"be I'll be able to shoot this next one with the HVX. Crossing my fingers...

Prodigi, it should definitely be in May... didn't know you knew about the contest. But yeah, we're anticipating seeing our first HD/HDV films this next contest. Should be interesting.

Dougspice, Jack left town! Hopefully this next time we'll actually have more picture than titles. Who knows?

Hmm, how about those USB-ports? I read that there are 4 USB ports in that DELL monitor...Could someone explain to me how do they work? How do you connect them to the PC? :undecided Sounds nice, but I just don't get it how they work...

"With 4 USB 2.0 ports, 2 located on the side, the 2405FPW gives users convenient access points to plug in devices such as keyboards, digital cameras, secondary hard drives and printers."

PJC, yea unfortunately they don't always have huge discounts like the one I saw a few months ago, but if you can wait for the right time to buy you’ll get an awesome price.

Petelms, the 4 USB ports work just like a USB hub. There’s a USB input on the monitor that you connect via USB cable from your USB out on your computer. Wow! I used USB five times, no wait six!
