Anyway to avoid rendering?

Hi there,

I currently use Sony Vegas for editing, however even for basic merge, split or trimming mts files, it still has to render to output with losses quality.
Does anybody here know how to stop rendering so that I can save a lot of time?
Any suggestion appreciated!

If you only want to merge, trim, or split .mts files, instead of Vegas try tsMueR from Smartlabs, a freeware utility that will perform those functions without rendering. Output the file as .mt2s, then you can then use that file in Vegas to do further edits that the utility can't do (color correction, etc.)

Thank you David Jimerson and dalemccl for the reply!
Yes, I need a simpler program that can simply merge, trim and split.
Sony Vegas always takes quite a long time doing the simple tasks as it needs to render every time I trim or split.
I've used tsMuxer before but it does not have the preview window so that I can see where I need to split, where I need to delete.
Finally I found a camcorder program named Aunsoft Final Mate which is very simple to use and works quite well so far.
Thanks again.

Are you looking to make new files, or just to edit with the trimmed clips? If you're editing, you never have to render anything.

I am looking to make new files. If I’m rendering from MTS File to Full HD m2v format, Sony Vegas takes about 3 ½ minutes for each minute of footage.
Thank you David for all your attention !
