Anything else I need?

I am going to be shooting a video for an artist at the end of the month. We are planning to shoot on location as well as in a club hopefully. Now I checked with the local film office here in this state and they said I do not need any permits to shoot as long as I don't have the need to shut down a road or anything like that. I am thinking of making some ID's for the crew to wear around their neck but will I need anything else? I want to be as professional as I can as this will be my first "real" low budget video!! As of right now I do not have production insurance which I still have yet to find out where I can locally get that. I am guessing places like Allstate and Nationwide don't carry that right?

One shot will be a driving shot where the camera will be in 1 vehicle in one lane and the artist singing in another car in the next lane. We are planning to shoot this in the early morning hours in a downtown area with no or little traffic at that hour. Since we are going to driving up and down the street to get the shot, will need a permit for that? We don't need to shut down the road but we probably will be driving under the speed limit though.

Film Emporium can quote you a price on insurance.

You might want to get a permit for shooting car to car, but as long as you aren't going to be hanging out of one car or standing up through a moon roof you should be okay.

hmmmm well actually I had considered hanging out of a pickup truck OR rigging the camera to the side or tailgate of one. I will just check with the local film office to see. Do I need to notify the police about my shoot? We are not going to have any weapons or fight scenes in the video.

If you are going to be hanging out of a truck or going to have equipment hanging out of a moving vechicle or anything that might create an unsafe condition it's better to notify the police ahead of time. Otherwise, if you get stopped in the middle of the shoot that could hold up the shoot.
