Anyone want to cheer me up?

Bit down right now.

Been doing a stupid thing. Looking back at what I have accomplished, and where I am right now.

Involved in many award winning films (some very prestigious), but many of those people sit back on their laurels, and have seemed to have forgotten my contribution to those films.

Tomorrow, I have an appointment with a temp employment agency to drive a forklift in a warehouse. For God's sake, I have worked with Martin Scorsese, and was the mix engineer on the very first live Facebook stream. Another film I supplied all weapons on and did a bit of acting on just won "Best Arizona Short Film" at the Phoenix Film Festival.

Sorry, venting. And had a couple of drinks. After a while, you just get tired of struggling and clawing your way uphill, yet trying to remain honorable. Yeah, I am a bit depressed right now.

Hell yeah. I know it's hard and there's not much comfort in it but it's usually just the cycle of life. You have your ups and downs. It's often only in hindsight that you look back and say everything happened for a reason.
It's just something you have to get through. Think of the cycle. That's what I do and it always works out in the end.

Guy walks into a bar with a duck on his head. The bartender looks up
and says "Where did you get that ape?" Guy says, "This isn't an ape,
it's a duck". Bartender says "I was TALKING to the duck".

Ok, maybe that's a better joke for Jason.

A baby seal walks into a bar and sits down. "What can I get you?" asked the bartender.
"Anything but a Canadian Club" replied the seal.

(Canadian Seal Hunt Joke and a popular whiskey)

Two cannibals walk into a bar and sits beside this clown. The first cannibal wacks the clown on the head and they both start eating the clown. Suddenly the second clown
looks up and says, "Hey, do you taste something funny?"

I'm here all night folks. Don't forget to leave a tip at the bar.

Looking back is not stupid Doc, check the photos (and your patients) out, relive the fun times.

What about taking a short holiday, a few days away playing golf etc.. it always gets better.

Cheering you up :)

Remember. Those who are successful were just to crazy to give up. We may be crazy, but we'll make it happen one day. But in the meantime:

LOL, the jokes, Gord. Nice.

Yeah, Raster, I am thinking about them. And that DOES give me some comfort. Knowing that, even if I were to be called home tonight, that's gives me some comfort. I was able to help those people.

Damn, LOL, looking back even further (thanks, Raster), I HAVE lived an amazing life. Not too many people can say they did what I have in a lifetime..

PS: Suck at golf. My clubs haven't seen a ball in 2 years. Thanks Nathyn!!!!!!!!!

One of these days, I am going to get my blog up and running.

Put everything I have done down in writing. Maybe that will be cathartic. Not to say "hey look at me and what I have done" but as a reminder to myself, that I haven't done that bad in this life.

LOL, the stories I can tell. From being shot, to taking 1.5 million volts through my body, to 5 near death experiences (including being revived myself), to bringing a dead person back to life with their heart in my hands holding the hole closed, to coursing class 5 rapids in nothing but a lifejacket and a wetsuit, to rappeling down 200' feet to an injured person off a sheer cliff, and having a roof collapse on me during a structure fire, to holding a 3 year-old's head together during CPR after a massive MVA, to.............yeah, I have lived these moments, and yes, some of them haunt me.

Then there is my film exploits.......

Yeah, I HAVE lived a full life, and it depresses me right now. I guess it's because I expected more to be the result of everything I experienced.

Sorry, so NOT the intention here.

LOL, and only hit the highlights that I can remember, right off hand. Don't be upset.......I was there, and look where I am. The funny thing is, I have been told by a few people "you make the Dos Equis guy look like crap in comparison" You have no idea how much that cracks me up. I am just a normal guy, that has experienced a few things.

Doc, not to get all filly-sofikal on ya, but, consider these:

(1) Billionaire Richard Branson says the secret to a good life is to not look back, but focus on the next thing you're going to do.

(2) Psychologists have known for a while that how we feel is governed by what we focus on. Focus on something else.

(3) The easiest way to feel better when you're feeling bad is to get busy. If it's really bad, get busy helping someone else. It will get your mind off your troubles.

Hope that helps.

Don't be upset.......I was there, and look where I am.
You are a survivor that's seen some serious **** and you are still out there runnin' and gunnin'. Hollywood success right now or not you've done things more significant than making it big in Tinsel Town and that's obvious to anyone w/a brain, IMO.

We all get bummed every now and then but don't lose sight of the truly meaningful contributions to society you've had, Doc. IMO an EMT in Nebraska has a more significant job than Scorsese. I mean, when disaster strikes the phrase "Help, I need a doctor" is going to be uttered a lot more than "Help, I need a movie director" or "Help, I need a Reality TV editor."

Keep your head up. You've obviously had a positive impact on a lot of lives and if you drive a forklift for a while that's not gonna change. You'll keep on being a positive force for many of the people you come into contact with. When I posted that stupid "Boom Operators Waltz" song and you acted like you got a kick out of it that made me feel good. So see, bam, positive impact and you didn't even know it.

How old are you if you don't mind my asking? With exception to the forklift comment, if I didn't know any better I'd guess you were close to 80, alone, and possibly wheelchair bound. If not, is there really that little time left in your life to pursue your dreams?

Let me put it another way. I don't want to know where 10 years ago you thought you'd be standing today. I want to know where you see yourself in a year. Two. Ten. How do you hope to get there? What is your plan?

I'll spare you all the anchor of depression that has weighed me down for the last several years, how little I've accomplished, and how dire my situation is.

I know how you feel doc, Been there lately myself. But at least you have folks that give a damn. I tried to reach out to the DVX community about a week ago, asking for some help on a project. And for some insight. I didn't get one response. So I pulled the thread, why waste the bandwidth. Not saying that for any other reason, than that you have folks here that care, and that in it's self is pretty cool. You reached out, and people respond. You have made an impression on folks, and one that people remember. You just made a big move to a new place, give your self some time, you'll see. You have a lot to offer, and when people know your there, and realize your a huge assett to any project, you will start getting more calls, and jobs. Hang in there Doc, by this time next year, your gonna look back and realize it was just a passing phase.

From what I've read of your posts on here, you're an awesome person Doc who's really passionate about filmmaking stuff. A geniune kind hearted person and I think sometimes people like you in life do get overlooked or passed over. What I've realized lately is that you got to really promote yourself and push yourself out there more for people to really see what you have to offer and I think that might be your problem too. Us as filmmakers, we are usually great at promoting our movies, or promoting other things but we don't often promote ourselves as well as we could.

You mention that those other guys are sitting on accolades and awards and you don't feel you're getting enough recognition from them....well to be quite honest, they probably aren't promoting themselves on a personal level enough even! You really got to take charge and promote yourself, don't wait on those guys to do it.

I've read your posts on DVXuser multiple times and I had no idea you worked with Martin Scorsese. That is huge! I am instantly impressed when I hear that and would love to hear you post some stories about the experience. I think that's where it all begins, you got to share all these things with people. When you share great things, it attracts more greatness and enrichment into your life.
