Anyone using the Tram TR50 TRS with the Rodelink Filmmaker?

I've seen musings here and there about folks replacing the stock mic on the Rodelink right away. I currently have a Tram TR50 XLR that I use and it'd be nice to have another on my wireless. Looking to pick up the Rodelink but I want to make sure I can use a TR50 with the locking TRS connector.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm asking about the TR50 with the locking connector here, not the TR50 XLR that I already own.

Crafty,

Probably, if your existing Tram is wired XLR, it will require 48v phantom power. Do you turn on phantom power when you use it on your camcorder or mixer? And probably, the Rodelink doesn't supply phantom power. Check me on that, but most economy wireless kits don't. You can solve that by adding a phantom power supply, or maybe sending the lav back to Tram to be converted. But before you do that, you will probably be better off to just buy another lav wired for the Rodelink. Everyone has their favs, but a decent lav can be had for around $100. You can, of course spend a lot more.

Definitely the Rodelink doesn't supply phantom power, like most economy wireless kits, including the Sennheiser ones.

Sorry guys I think the way I worded it was confusing there. I currently own the TR50 with the XLR connector, but if I get a RodeLink I'd like to get an additional Tram TR50 with the TRS connector. I'm curious to know if anyone has used the TRS TR50 successfully with the Rodelink. I also wanted to ask if anyone is using the COS-11d that has a TRS connector. I noticed there was an answer to a question on B&H about Rodelink compatibility that indicated the COS-11d wasn't, but wanted to get a get second opinion :)

The TR50 (like most lavs require bias voltage) usually around (5 volts). The XLR adapter is a transformer and converts the Phantom Power to bias current (aka, Plug-in Power) With the proper connector and wiring, most any lav will work plugged directly into a body pack transmitter.
NOTE: There are two and three wire versions of the TR50, as well as positive and negative bias versions. Contact Tram or Rode for wiring instructions. Otherwise you can purchase a (Made in USA) OST 801/802 with the proper plug installed for around $130. For another $70 or so, a plug-on XLR Phantom Pwr supply/ adapter is available to use the mic in a hard-wired config. The 801/2 is almost identical to the TR50, even the mounting accessories are interchangeable.

Oh hi again. :-)

You know, I'd probably contact Rode directly and ask them how to wire a TRAM or OST to work with their RodeLink belt pack. They =should= know how to do it, though considering Rode's main focus it might take a while for tech support to find the right person/info to answer your question.

It looks like their belt pack transmitter will provide 4V for your mic...

But it also looks like you can only set attenuation to 0dB, -10dB, or -20dB... I might find that limiting.

Just wanted to report back here that I did indeed end up getting the Rodelinks as I've mentioned in a couple other threads, and the TR50 wired for Sennheiser definitely works with them.
