Anyone using the Intuit Focus motorized wired follow focus?

Big issue with it is that it costs almost $4000. You can buy something much nicer for the money.

Yeah, I've seen a few different prices around, but nowhere near $500. The lowest one I could find with some googling was €2200, which is around $3100. Plus, from what I just found on a quick google, apparently you can't make marks with the Intuit Focus, you can only push the control in one direction or the other, and it moves the focus ring in that direction. Sounds like a design issue to me! I don't mean to knock what seems like an interesting device, but for the price, I'd expect a lot more.

Still, the DP I work with just picked up an industry standard remote follow focus, a Bartech Focus Device, for significantly under $3000 used. A much better purchase in the long run. On the other end of the spectrum, JAG35 has something that will mount on a handle, give you a little knob, and turn a little motor on your lens. I think it's around $300. Might be worth looking at if you want to pull your own focus and are strapped for cash. (I still love the Bartech, but it's a whole different class of device, and also for a style of work where you have a 1st AC pulling your focus and making marks)

thanks for all the info buddy , much appreciated. im going to wait till NAB to see whats coming out. Jag35 has a new prototype wireless with what looks like a better motor.

I need one that is ultra quiet and smooth. if i have to pay 1000-1500 , than i will but $3000 is way over my price range. maybe redrock micro will be the way to go. hopefully there will be alot of new products available at NAB in the focus Department.

is your Bartech focus have a quiet motor or are they all loud? the bartech quality is top notch , saw their webpage.

im definetely interested , keep us all updated. i would start your own thread on it aswell. redrocks isnt coming out till summer/winter meaning probably winter so thats too long of a wait for me
