Anyone using the Century extreme fisheye?

Is anyone using the Century extreme fisheye? I primarily shoot skate videos, just finished one for Santa Cruz Skateboards, shot with a VX2000 and a MKII century fisheye. I just picked up an HVX200 and am looking to get the extreme fisheye. I havent been able to find a retailer who carries it in my area, so I havent been able to test it out. Id like to know how heavy it is for one handed shooting. Its a big purchase to make without really checking it out firsthand or even talking to someone who has it.

Has anyone seen a cheaper option? Isn't that thing like $2800??

Yea, the price is out of hand, but the footage Ive seen shot with it looks spectaculare.

I did see somewhere where someone hacked a MKII to fit on a HVX200. It was held together with duct tape so its hard for me to tear mine apart to hack it on my HVX200.

Id be very interested in seeing some of the footage you refer to from the xtreme fish. Got any links? I've seen the skate fairy stuff but I'm not 100% sure that this was the century xtreme.

From what I hear around the skate industry, Im pretty sure that the skate fairy stuff is shot with the century xtreme. I saw the other stuff on someones laptop at last years NSR trade show. Cant remember what team it was, Element maybe?

I would also be interested to see some HVX-200 footage using the century extreme fisheye...

(it may be cheaper if you can find someplace that is renting that instead of buying)

We have both the super fisheye and the Extreme Fisheye. Although we haven't used the extreme fisheye yet, we don't have the rods. The Extreme is HUGE. I've done skate filming before, and I think it would be VERRRRY cumbersome for follow cam stuff. The super fisheye is very compact and looks great. I put up a sample at

As far as the skate fairy stuff goes, it looks like the super to me, not the extreme, but I don't know for sure. The link for it is http://skatefairy.com/EvansFullyFished.mov

That Extreme Fisheye looks absolutely enormous!
I reckon that you'd still be able to get some sick results with skateboarding though (provided you don't accidentally get "board-into-lens-itis")
It's bad enough with the ultra - damaging the extreme would be awful! :crybaby:

Faustfire, beautiful stuff! Are all the shots in that film from the HVX? A couple have some noticeable red/green fringing.

You can get that lens from EVS in Burbank. The web site is evsonline.com if I remember correctly. I have 2 we use for snowboarding footage. It is really heavy and you need to use a set of Century support rods that cost around 470 dollars as well. It is all time for rails and jib footage. The extra weight makes the camera a bit front heavy for follow work but not too bad. The main flaw is a slight vignetting on the upper left corner of the shots. You can see it on the skate fairy shots. Besides that I highly recomend it for skate footage. It has a 165 degree field of view.

Thanks for the info 116mm, do you know if you have to use centurys support rods, or are any 15mm rod system work?

I think Ill probably order one of these beauties tomorrow. I had been waiting to get my free P2 card before I made the leap, but I went ahead and picked up a card now that the price has dropped.
As soon as I go shooting with it Ill post some clips!

As far as I know it's all HVX.

They are 15mm rods but the lens is really easy to use with the Century setup. I think you will like it. I recommend getting the Century Rods. Good Luck with that bad boy.

Ok, rods are on order, should be in by the time I get back into town next week. I'll post comparisons then
