Anyone using Sony Vegas Pro 10 with Laptop?

Anyone using Sony Vegas Pro 10 with Laptop for editing HD footage?
I need to put together a field editor package using Vegas Pro for
same-day edits at conferences and tradeshows & events. Also
will be shooting / editing / DVD burns & Web uploads on the road.
Need a laptop with decent display where video won't lag.
(I know... get a Mac....but I have to use Vegas...so I'm PC.)

Any thoughts, help or personal "hands-on" experience comments
are welcome. Been eyeing the newer laptops by ASUS but am
open to others.

Thanks,

Chaz

I've been using Pro 9 on an HP HDX 16 (Core 2 duo at 2 GHz, 4 GB Ram, 32 bit), and it runs fine for cutting DV and HDV. HDV can bog down a bit when you start getting heavy on the effects, but otherwise it's been fine. It's a little bit older, but it's got a nice 16" widescreen.

Check out HP Elitebook mobile workstations, especially when they refresh to sandy bridge. They have an abundance of ports and high end quadcore processors. Not the cheapest, but definitely field ready.

I've been using an older Hp Dv8 laptop for editing while on trips in hotel rooms for over a year now. It's a core i7, 4gb ram, 18.5" 1920x1080 display, 5400 rpm hdd, Windows 7 64bit and it's worked quite well. I used it with Vegas Pro 9 and it was ok, but it really shines with Vegas Pro 10 as it's avchd playback was improved dramatically. I basically run my business with it while I'm in hotel rooms, which amounts to editing and uploading avchd footage natively. Nice laptop but it is really heavy. However it works well as a desktop replacement. I can literally go film footage, come back to the hotel, drop the avchd footage natively right into Vegas and get it all edited in no time.
