Hi,
wondering if anyone is using pinnacle liquid edition with their dvx.I have version 5.5 and the new version 6 in HD is coming out this month, or so I hear.Don't know much about the dvx camera except for everything I have read here. What I mean by not knowing much is I have not yet seen one in person, and dont know of anyplace in Ohio who has one for sale. I am going to make a purchase very soon.I am debating between the dvx, the xl2 or even going for the sony dsr-390L is a possibility. Mostly the camera will be used for weddings, and high school football. Possibly even music videos/documentaries is something I would like to get in to.I am intrigued by the dvx and the xl2 as far as the different looks you can achieve.I am considering a dsr-390L because I am a news videographer and am very familiar with it from some guys at the other stations.I use DVC Pro at work myself.Sorry I started rambling, but anyway, if anyone has any insight if they use this combo of dvx and liquid edition I am all ears. Thanks everyone!

If you want to edit on a 24p timeline, LE isn't for you. If you're not worried about that, it's at least comparable to, say, Premiere Pro.

YellowDog,

I am using Pinnacle 5.5 and will be building another computer in the next six months to accomodate 6.0. I have had incredible success with Liquid and we are using it for Weddings, Graduations, and Church stuff.

The DVX is fine piece of equipment and you will find it works great with liquid. As mentioned, it does not work as well as other programs with the 24P mode, but if you are only shooting Weddings and Gradutions mostly, you won't use the 24P mode very often.

I also use Pinnacle Studio 9 which is a very powerful program for the price of >$99.00.

If you need any help, just post here in the Cafe, as we have not convinced Jarred to start a Liquid forum yet, mainly because there are not enough us here.

That said, you will find a priceless amount of information on a variety of topics as you have problably discovered.

Thanks for the info guys.I'm not sure I will need the 24p option very much, but it would be nice to have anyway.Maybe we need to let Pinnacle know that we want the 24p option in edition as well. They are doing HD so anything is possible. Take Care.

Re: anyone using pinnacle liquid edition?

Well, I just spoke to Pinnacle's Lead Support Engineer, and from what he tells me, Pinnacle thinks 24p is a dead end and a waste of time. They think HD is the future and are gearing toward that.

Now, you CAN edit your 24p footage with Edition, but you can only do it as a 60i file. It still retains the film look, but you don't get the efficiency of editing in 24p.

If you're going to edit 24p footage in Edition, you should shoot in 24pN, not 24pA.

Which is a shame, because I think Edition is an excellent editor. But without true 24p, I'm sticking with Vegas.

Re: anyone using pinnacle liquid edition?

forgive my ignorance on this subject of 24p. What exactly is 24pN? I never heard of that one. Is that possible with the Dvx?

Re: anyone using pinnacle liquid edition?

as soon as pinnacle supports the DVX, I will drop in a pinnacle section.

Re: anyone using pinnacle liquid edition?

It's not a big deal Jarred. If I was regularly shooting in 24P I would probably be using Avid or Vegas. The reason I chose Pinnacle was the simplicity of the program and it's DVD authoring is integrated in the program, plus photoshop works in perfect harmony with Pinnacle.

Re: anyone using pinnacle liquid edition?

no big deal here either. I also like the simplicity of dvd authoring in Pinnacle. Thanks also for the info on 24pN. I appreciate it.
