anyone using mxo2, question?

this may sound complicated i hope i can explain correctly.
when you buy a dvd from netflix and play it on a 4:3 tv, it has letter box, when you play it on a 16x9 tv it can be displayed full screen.

when i run my hdv timeline through the mxo2 (using the hd to sd conversion) i run it right into a stand alone dvd recorder. in anamorphic mode it looks fine on 16x9 tv's but on 4:3 tvs i cant get the letter box its just squished. in letter box mode, its fine on 4:3 tv's but its not full screen on 16x9 tv's. my software from apple dvdsp works fine in this situation but i seem locked into limitations with the mxo2. the benefit of using the mxo2 though is i can run off raw footage in realtime but some clients of 4:3 and some clients of 16x9 and i cant keep changing for specific clients, it has to be adaptible no matter what tv they use, what can i do?

I'm just venturing a guess here but when you author a DVD I think there is a 'flag' embedded into the file to tell the DVD what aspect ratio the video is (FF 4:3 or FHA 4:3) so the DVD player can output the proper signal. Since you are feeding a video signal straight into the DVD recorder I don't think that 'flag' is being generated. It might be a limitation of your DVD recorder.
