I have a 27" 3.4GHz core i7 with 32GB RAM which I use, along with a 27" 2.8GHz core i7 with 16GB RAM as a second monitor for editing.

david-

thank you for the quick response.

i have a late 2010 2.93 i7 w/20gb ram - http://www.everymac.com/systems/app...-i7-2.93-27-inch-aluminum-mid-2010-specs.html

i am wondering if it is more effective than my fcp7 workstation-

2008 mac pro 3,1 2.8 8-core w/24gb ram - http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_pro/specs/mac-pro-eight-core-2.8-2008-specs.html

do you feel limited by your 3.4 i7's connectivity?

(are external usb3.0 hard drives effective in editing hd footage?)

what has been your real-world pros/cons?

thanks i advance for any info you care to share.

be well.

I use Thunderbolt storage for my edit drives.

I also use Thunderbolt to feed a Matrox MX02 unit and drive a Panasonic BT-LH2600W Edit monitor, Panasonic SD monitor to double check supers, and a large client preview monitor.
