Anyone used thewatchbox.com?

Hey guys, I have made a webseries using a friends EX1 and am looking for a good distribution platform that financially makes sense. I'm not happy with the offers from Blip or Koldcast, but the Watchbox sounds too good to be true. Renting the content to my social network is exactly what I need to do, but I know they are a young company. Has anyone had experience with them?

Keep shootin,
Willie

This probably isn't what you want to hear, but unless you already have a massive following beating down your door to get see your newest projects, trying to directly monetize a webseries will effectively kill it before it even gets a chance. You'll get some rentals from friends and family, but do you honestly see anyone just stumbling upon your series and deciding it's worth their money? Hell, it's hard enough to convince people that your content is even worth their TIME, let alone their cash, and there isn't going to be any buzz about it, because there's nobody to talk about it since the only people who are watching it are the aforementioned friends and family.

There are certainly business models that allow to for you to make some money off of web series', but they're often most effective as a means to another end, like building up a fan base and using that as leverage to secure financing for a bigger project.

I can attest to this. I have several short films "under distribution" on several pay per view/download/streaming sites. How much have I made? Like, nothing. How much do I charge? As little as possible. Unless they already know you and are clamoring for your output, you likely won't make squat no matter where you distribute. At least monetizing through something like youtube, your potential viewers pay nothing and you STILL make money. Maybe. Eventually.

What is it about Koldcast and Blip that you aren't happy with? I note that Koldcast offers a distribution arrangement - where they claim to actively get international licenses for you. Does anyone know if this they actually do this?

I'm sure that this is true. But don't the monetizing websites also claim to arrange distribution (with tv networks or dvd rentals or whoever else) for you?
