Anyone used Niwacity.com?

Their prices are very very reasonable, but because of this I am very very weary! Has anyone here used them? Are they for real? Or is it a scam? Please help a sceptic person from the UK!

Had a look at their web site. The pricing looks ok. Not too cheap and too expensive. If you are interested to buy from them, I suggest buying using a credit card like mastercard or visa. If it is a scam, I don't think the CC company will even deal with them and if they don't send you the camcorder when you have paid them, you can always go back to visa or mastercard to raise a dispute and I am sure they will sort out for you.

But the site looks ok IMO.

Their website was registered less than three months ago: Creation Date: 18-Jul-2006.
Personally I'd prefer a company that's had a presence for a tad longer! :)

Niwacity.com / Niwa Electronics is a scam. I spent $1300 on a camera that never arrived from Niwa. And payment is only through e-gold (a non-refundable e-currency)--and I learned too late that Niwa's e-gold accounts were currently blocked...which only happens through court order. I am in the process of finding legal counsel but am pretty sure my money is completely lost. Please avoid this company and in general, do exhaustive research before giving money to any on-line business. This one *seemed* so respectable and thorough...so much email customer service BEFORE I made payment. But once I paid, I could not get a hold of them. Just try to call Niwa's phone number from their Contact Us page -- you'll hear "Thank you for calling. Goodbye." before it hangs up. I detail my experience further here: http://gessoteric.com/niwacity-fraud

Hey, is that $1,300 camera the DVC-30?
I saw that price and was a little skeptical about it, it seemed to good to be true.

On their contact page, it says their main mailing address is in Orange, CA. That's 5 minutes away from where I live, crazy. I tried the phone number too, what a rip off.

Hmm... Should we take a Drive and Do some snooping?

Some of the prices for cameras on there were just so far below other companies (including Amazon) as to be unbelievable. Next time I drive to the O.C., I'm tempted to stop in at their location and see what the deal is. I'll bet they don't have a sales location there...

I tried to call the Orange police department to see if they could help in any way. I mean, if these scammers are actually there (which I doubt), it seems like just checking it out would help to start shutting them down. But the officer told me that since I live in Chicago, I have to file a report here. (this perplexes me since internet fraud can happen to anyone/anywhere. What if I said I lived in California?)

And when I called my police department, they told me that I can't file a police report since it's technically not a crime yet--it could be a civil case, wherein I have to get a lawyer. I am filling out mail-in consumer complaint forms to the State Attorney General which I was told would take 3-4 weeks to even review. Meanwhile, these Niwa scammers may still be taking money from people. It's so quick to be taken advantage of and pretty impossible and incredibly slow to get help in just trying to thwart criminals from doing further harm.

Check 'em out!

Check 'em out!

Absolutely yes. Anyone who lives nearby should visit this address and find out who these people are. Exposing them, or even contributing any identifying information, helps victims pursue their claims and helps others avoid getting scammed.

Whats the Exact Adress of this "store"?

Edit: I looked it up, It looks like its 2 blocks from The Angel Stadium!

NiwaCity Fraud!!

NiwaCity Fraud!!

If you look the address up in Virtual Earth you will see that 571 N Poplar St. is really a complex with many businesses ranging from doctors offices to to video editing companies. You could never tell which is Niwa City. I am sure they just picked a random address. The FBI should get involed.
