Anyone use this DVD duplicator

Does anyone have any experiences (good and bad) with the Discmaker line of duplicators ? Are there any comparable alternatives for a standalone duplicator? Bravo ?

I hate tying up a computer just to duplicate DVD's. Most of my productions have a duplication run of 10-15 DVD's.

I'm thinking of picking up a ReflexMax 1 or 4 --

Here's the link:

Thanks !

Is this one of the units that can ONLY use the media they sell? That seems like a drawback to me, unless they have smoking hot deals on blank media.

Edit: Nevermind -- that seems to be the Ultra model only, so that's good.

I'd be interested in how these guys operate. I get their catalog all the time.

As far as replication goes, my experience with them was top notch. I've dealt with about 4 different replicators around the U.S. and Discmakers was the best quality I've seen, but also the most expensive (I did a 20,000 disc run with them about a year ago).

They are definitely set up to deal with the indie filmmaker and don't turn their nose up at lower (sub-5,000) quantities. Once you go higher and/or get more familiar with what's out there it pays to shop around. There are some replicators out there who won't even return your phone calls if you aren't looking to replicate 50,000 or more discs -- Discmakers is not one of them.

Thanks, that's good to know. Of course to me, a 5K run would be huge. It's nice that someone out there understands that.

I like the fact that the Discmakers duplicators are able to dupe DL dual layer DVD's (although I'm not authoring DL yet) ...

I've used them quite a few times and I agree the quality is bar none, but pricy. Great contact and service too.

ps: let me know if you want to use them and i'll see about a deal, i'm a studio partner there

Yeah, it would be great to own your own DVD copying station. I noticed that the Disc Makers duplicators are just that... duplicators. Duplication is different than replication. I know for a fact that there are still DVD players manufactured that do not read DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs. I would hate to do a big job and release it on DVD+/-R discs only to have many of them returned because they were incompatible with those DVD players. It seems to me that DVD-5 and DVD-9 are the way to go to avoid incompatibility issues.

Hey Kyle, I posted before I saw your post. Have you heard of any compatibility issues between the current crop of DVD players and the DVD-/+R discs that Disc Makers produces?
