Anyone use Abe's of Maine?

I compared several different camera prices to B&H, Adorama, etc and found some prices to be the same, some a little cheaper, some more expensive and a few to be a lot cheaper. I had this company confused with another but now that I saw reviews I am wondering if they are another one of those you read horror stories about. Funny that some prices are the same and some are actually higher though.

Bait and Switch slimeballs.

Don't trust sites like Reseller Ratings any more. They aggressively game the system. They will only give a dissatisfied buyer a refund if they change their rating to 5 stars. If they can't bully or bribe someone into changing the rating, they challenge it. They lie and say the person never bought from them, etc.

Look at Yelp. They get 1.5 out of 5 stars. That is all you need to know!!!

Run, run, run.

There are some deals from the major retailers at times. But you have to do the research and watch. They can't advertise most of the deals because of manufacturer restrictions.

Good luck!

Thank you.
I started this tread after I placed an order for some camera bags and then realized I had this company confused with another. Since the order was already placed I waited and expected a bait and switch hard upsell phone call.
I missed a phone call from them and then got an email asking me to call them to "confirm" my order. I returned the email and call, leaving them a voicemail. Nothing else happened; the bags shipped and arrived. No tactics or scams happened.
So I feel fortunate it worked out.

Maybe if I'd ordered a camera they would have tried a hard accessory upsell, I don't know. But all I did was order some camera bags that were discontinued and not available anywhere else I could find. I'm glad they had them.

Never used Abes, but have learned over the years these truths:

1) 99% of NYC dealers are bait and switch slime balls (with B & H and a couple others being exceptions- personally I've had good luck with them, Profeel and Adorama)

2) Most dealers outside of NYC are fine. Notice I said MOST. Check anyone out before you buy. Ebay can also be good because you have buyer protection to some extent.
