Anyone use a monopod?

To anyone who has one:

I have really nice Bogen head/tripod combo now, but for a bit quicker set ups, I was thinking about getting a monopod. Is it useful...or is it something that just sits around?

It all depends on what kind of video are you shooting. It is very usefull for the "run and shoot" situations, like live events. The monopods became even more popular with the cameras getting smaller and smaller.

Yeah I guess the ultimate decision in buying one, is am i ever going to be in the run and gun situation...

I have a monopod and at first I thought it was a great idea. But then I tried to use it in a "run and gun" situation and found it not be as easy to use as expected because there was no "head" to help with the pans and tilts. If my monopod had a head, it wouldn't be half bad, but I find it fairly useless until I put a head on it.

Just my opinion.
