Anyone tried the KATA case CCC-2003 for DVX?

Just curious if it's any good. I can't tell from the picture how you get it out of the bag. I'm looking for a soft/medium case that gives you easy access to the camera. Any suggestions?

Hi,
I am Using The kata ENG and DV bags for years.
For my DVX100E i have the EXO-33 (CCC-3333).
In my opinion kata makes the best bags in the market.
This bag (EXO-33/CCC-3333) will let you cary most if not all of your equipment (Camera, batt, small light, gels, radio mike, ext.)

Try clicking on "view" for a larger bag image.

Thanks

Your DVX can check out any time it likes... but it can NEVER leave...(guitar solo)

LMAO Terry!

Hi Stars:  It has a zipper that goes in a diagonal manner, from the bottom right, up the entire top, to bottom left.  Kata is highly unorthodox, in a very cool way. ::) You should see their Sub-bags.  Tres cool.  Anyhow, the shell "cracks" open to reveal the camera strapped inside with 2 belts, with a pocket for accessories.  Extrememly lightweight bag, very unassuming (as far as theft).

Kata cases rock. I've got a CC102 for my DVX. Have you checked out the body armour they do!!

Thanks Rush. That's what it looked like, but I wasn't sure from the picture. You're a great help.

Did you see the article about on of our boys bailing out and crashing his fighter, but the Pelican case 1650 in the back with all the sensitive gear in it survived the crash WITH equipment intact? I forgot where I read it, but the pilot was truly amazed it survived. Boy, if that's not somethin'... ;)

Except their foam has a nasty habit of flaking. Drives me crazy as I am a neat freak when it comes to my cameras. Now I have resorted to wrapping my DVX100A in a t-shirt before placing in my Pelican 1610.

I wrap mine in a shirt also (even though its in a KATA bag). Except, my bag is not big enough to accomodate my new 3 by 3 Cavision Mattebox. :(

So I have to take it apart..... Sigh.....

That's EXACTLY why I bought the 1610. I haven't bought a mattebox yet, but I wanted enough room for it + the handle and wheels are cool. I am considering a CAVision as well. However, I want one that will fit multiple cameras (DVX100A and DVC200), so I'll probably have to get the 4x4 with 15mm rails. I am waiting to hear back from them now on what exactly I need. Regardless, knowing my luck, I'll probably have to do some recutting of the foam or buy new foam due to not planning accordingly. Hopefully, not.

I was leaning towards 4 by 4 orignally, but bellows are not my thing. Budget came into play as always. Now Im on the hunt for 3 by 3 filters

lee, tiffen, schnieder, formatt, cavision brand....

Fine line between quality and price. :(

Re: Anyone tried the KATA case CCC-2003 for DVX?

I am aware of that issue too, I wonder if there is some kind of spray that will "bind" the case foam once it has been cut to size. Like some kind of acrylic clearcoat that will seal the foam pieces from flaking...

Re: Anyone tried the KATA case CCC-2003 for DVX?

Interesting idea. Most acetates will eat foam though. Theres gotta be a solution though.

Re: Anyone tried the KATA case CCC-2003 for DVX?

I've never met a foam that didn't disintegrate with age--bleh. John--I have some Formatt filters. They're excellent for the cost--very high quality, but you do have to be careful with resin filters. How do like the Cavision 3X3--how's the build quality?

Re: Anyone tried the KATA case CCC-2003 for DVX?

I love it! It could not be simpler to use and it adds some serious sex to my DVX ;D

I am very torn on Filters; what about resin? As oppossed to polyester and glass?

Im finding, like all things in this industry that people are passionate about the ones they use "Some say Tiffen only!" others say "Formatt!" and so on.

I realy am torn. I want:

diffusion for my talents faces
sun grad orange (maybe later a blue)
polorizer (maybe warm, not sure)
chocalate or black promist (non lightening of shadows)
