Anyone tried replacing Dedo DLH4 halogen bulbs with LED bulbs?

Interested to know - I can't be the only one looking at their DLH4s and wondering if a cooler running LED bulb will work in place of the halogen G6.35. I can't bring myself to replace my immaculate and well made DLH4s with Dedo LED ones, but it would be nice to pack them down without the obligatory cooling period.

A quick Google suggests there are many dimmable G6.35 24volt LED bulbs available - but the "warm white" or "cool white" descriptions make my heart sink.

Or maybe there's the perfect LED bulb out there with decent CRI, that's suitable for the Dedo lens system.

Anyone else been brave enough to try some out?

Cheers,

Ben.

Don't think it can work except for very low wattage led bulb (but the light output will be far less than tungsten bulb with full CTB).
Even if you replace the reflector for a decent heatsink and fan and say you can put a 50w inside the classic DLH4, it won't have the same output (the yuji 50w Led output 3400 lumens compared to the 5000-6000 lumens a classic 150w bulb output).
Even Dedolight can't make a Led version of their classic tungsten version that output more light than the old models. The photometrics of the newest DLED-7 are a bit less than the output of the DLH4 (but I tested them and they're still great lights):

I don't think there's a solution there. Maybe converting a DLH4 into a 150w HMI would be easier (since the 200w DLH200d is approximately the same size and uses the sames accessories)... But I don't know, It seems complicated since the size of the HMI bulb should match the size of the tungsten one. If someone find a solution, I would be greatly interested since I'm looking for a used DLH200D for some time. ;)

It's great when someone with a bigger brain comes along. Thanks for the answers. I don't think an HMI conversion is the answer for my needs - even longer standby times, although I do love the light quality you get from HMI.

I'll soldier on with halogen for now, unless some clever person comes up with an LED bulb that slots in there and shines like a hot piece of tungsten.

I do like what I'm getting with LED panels now - seems like a corner has been turned with affordable, high CRI/TLCI scores.

Cheers,

Ben.
