Anyone still fiddling with 16mm?

I was thinking about picking up a 16mm cam for some silent flashback stuff for a project I'm working on. Anyone here still using 16mm in any regard? Seems like the cameras themselves are ridiculously cheap at this point, and the digital transfers don't seem horribly expensive.

I´m getting my feet wet in the moment. Some WWII reenactors asked me to shoot one of their campaigns.

They gave me a Bell and Howel FILMO camera of the 1940s - pretty cool wind up camera and build like a tank.

Actually I´m learning my way into it now. Still have no idea how to expose right.

All I can say is get a good light meter and bracket every shot.

Absolutely. Fiddling...but fun. I often intercut Super16 with HD stuff. Love it. Also great for timelapse and animation.

I study on super 16. We shot on the wind up bolex for two years, and now we're on aaton cameras. Very sturdy stuff, though our lenses flares up like crazy. Exposing and getting everything perfect is part of the fun of it. Transferring isn't bad.

I love 16mm and have been drooling over the prices of 16mm cameras now. I have a Bolex Rex-5 I cut my teeth on. I haven't shot film in a while, but definitly plan to shortly. I just picked up an old school light meter (Sekonic L-398) so I can get back into the habit of thinking in footcandles. Go for it.

I'm wondering about processing and transferring. It seems like there are a million places where they'll transfer your film to DVD, etc. but where are the best places to get the film processed? I'm new to film, so I'm going to tread lightly here in the beginning.

Overall, though, the pricing for the whole thing seems really resonable considering the final image.

I heard a whispers that you can actually purchase 16mm film from B&H and they'll even do the processing, but all I saw was their A&I services which looks to me like single picture developing.

Also, I was looking at these guys:

Just curious, where do you actually purchase a 16mm from? Are there stores online that sells them because I think they are hard to find.

I see them all over the place. Heck ebay alone has a ton of sellers who pretty much only sell 16mm film.

16mm is no harder to find than 35mm. Pretty much any place that sells 35mm film rolls sells 16mm rolls.
