Anyone registered with StudioNow?

A little advice required guys! StudioNow have contacted me asking if I'd like to register with them - I know the basics about them and their (enormous) database of creatives, but I'd like to hear opinions from anyone who's been registered with them. Have they brought you work and, if so, do they pay a decent rate? How does it work with regard to invoicing etc? I'm in the UK so I guess that means less local people on their books than US. All stories, good and bad, gratefully received!

Been with them for a few years

Work is spotty (a day job or two every other month or so in my non-metropolitan area, some long dry periods), communication is very good (excellent online project management system), pay rates depend on the job and range from peanuts to very very decent day rates. At least in the US, there's no invoicing... you just finish the job and they process your payment which (so far) always arrives within 30 days. I'd say they've been a good client.

Hey Tom,

IMO, they're a joke. I've been on their "list" since 2009. Had a short dry spell between clients and decided to hook up with them. I got a handful of jobs from them. Only one of them was decent pay. Their rates are poor at best. As far as I'm concerned, they should be trying to hit up the college kids or hobbyists. No real professional should bother. I haven't done anything for them in 2 years and quite frankly don't miss them one bit.
As McBob mentioned, they are good about paying and you don't have to invoice them. Their project management system like he said is really good. BUT, they DO NOT pay a professional like a professional should be paid. You shoot and edit for peanuts and any revisions they want they pay you a whopping $25 to do. If you're desperate and the job is within 10 minutes of where you live, you may want to do it. But, I certainly wouldn't look to have them as a regular client...and certainly not if you like to eat and keep a roof over your head :)

Also been on the "list" for years, have done lots of jobs for other similar outfits , even had a recent email from them wanting to update my profile- but not one job. Sounds like it's no great loss though.

Ive done just under $35,000 with them over 2 years, $2500 this year so far. From $750 (shoot 2 hours, edit 2 hours) to $3000 multi-cam (with putting together crew built in), though more of the former than latter. Several multi-day shoots, too.

I only regret one shoot- unorganized client, low pay (I was bored that week).
Otherwise, I'm usually happy for $750 for 4 hours (actually prefer that to 10 hour shoot day), and 30 day, dependable direct deposit is hard to beat.
The pay is always spelled out clearly, and if you don't want it, say you're not available.

They are usually very organized, and they do most of the client preparation. Sometimes the client isn't prepared, but you can usually spot those from a lack of input/interaction on the Project Page, and ask for more input before the shoot.
My reel is probably 1/3 SN.

Main St, you're in Nashville, as is SN, they may have a large network there already.
Tom, give them a try- you could become "their guy" in London, and there's nothing lose. The larger the metropolitan area, and the more you're "their guy", the better.
If you have more questions, feel free to PM me.
