Anyone know the history behind 35mm adapters?

I have only been involved in film making for a few years and I have the Letus Extreme. How long have they been out? Is there a company that was first to make these or was just some guy in his workshop that thought of it. I am bored at work and was curious if anyone knows the history of the 35mm adapters.

P&S Technik made the first one, the mini35. It is a fully professional piece of gear, costing about $11,000 for the adapter, mounts, and a mounting kit that is unique to each camcorder.

As for the homemade/cheap adapters, I think the Agus35 is probably the one that started the low-cost revolution.

Redrock was probably the first to professionalize the "homemade" adapter.

Letus pioneered the right-side-up concept in low-cost adapters (the mini35 is also right-side-up). They remain the only manufacturers to offer it built-in.

Cinevate pioneered the upgradeable/interchangeable concept, and I think they remain the only manufacturer that offers a completely upgradeable product.

Actually I believe the way it went down was some busted old filmmaker sitting on his butt in his living room, drinking a brewsky, watching an amazing movie, wished he could make something so great...and went ZOMG I WANT DOF!

thats pretty much where it started... :P
