Hi all,

I work with ADOBE audition for miaxing sounds but it doesnt allow me to use VST plugins.

So I have downloaded the free sound edtor called REAPER....
http://reaper.fm/

Its freeware with the option to buy.

Its simple and easy to use (did I mention Free) but the question is does anyone here use it? If they do I have a question to ask

I use GPO (Garritan perosnal orchestra) cause it has realistic orchestra sound samples. I am using a Midi control keyboard (M Audio keystartion 66).

When I key the sounds off the controler I hear the sound I want but I also hear a dam piano sound for each key I hit. When i render out you dont hear it which is fine but I want to be able to layer my sounds so when I render them out I can hear what will be the finall render without hearing the piano roll within the sound mix.....

Anyhow here got an idea how to turn it off?

Cheers Mike

Audition added VST support in V1.5. I use third-party VST effects all the time. Not to say it works well with every VST plugin out there. It does not automatically scan for new VST plugins so you have to tell it to refresh the effects list to see them.

Actually, it's shareware with a 30-day trial but it is an amazingly capable program for the registration fee. I recently started using it for multi-track recording with a Presonus Firepod. I was in a pinch and only had a 700 mhz PIII laptop with 384 Mbytes. Reaper was able to reliably record 8 tracks simultaneously. Audition can do this but needs a lot more horsepower. So Reaper must be pretty lean.

Unfortunately, I can't answer your Reaper question/problem. I'm still pretty new to it and don't use MIDI. Is it possible that there is a monitoring option that controls whether you hear the keyboard or not? In any case, it looks like the Reaper forums are fairly active so you might do better asking there.

Good luck,
Dan
