Anyone here on music boards?

Sorry to bring this up again... (David, let this thread live for a day, okay  ? - oh - and Happy B-day  )

Now that I kissed up to the mods:

I'd like to get some sense of what the techno music boards have to say about the incident in Czech Rep. last weekend. Is anyone here who visits boards like that? I don't, and so far, my search on google doesn't yield much useful info. It's kinda like searching for dvxuser.com all over again  .

You can PM me if you don't want to 'start a discussion'.

Thanks,

Jerry

Wow, X was that incident at a techno fest? Is there an official name for the event? I love techno (living in Detroit for 18 years helps. I once pitched Derrick May about doing a video, he is a very cool guy), but have not been on many boards. I'll keep an eye out.

Yep - it was called CzechTech (or something like that). Ironicallly, this was the first year when it was 'legal' - meaning they got the lease agreement, they got the permit, etc.

My son is 'sort of' into techno, but he wasn't at the event. Well, guess what - the Czech Senate called their Committe for security and defence, and the Czech President is calling the State Comission (whatever that means) to investigate the incident.

Interesting times in my home country.

You lived in Detroit? For a year or so, we must have been neighbors. I spent my first year in Canada in Windsor, ON, also known as 'Detroit South'. What a hell hole... though I hear it's much better now.

Which one, Windsor or Detriot is the hell hole?
Yes.

I've only heard the worst things about Detroit, but never actually visited, so I don't know.

Windsor - at the time I lived there it had the highest per capita murder rate of all of Canada (not because of me  ). I lived in a neighborhood close to Detroit River - could see the whatever they call it glass towers from the house. I decided to move out when within one week there was domestic violence right across the street from us, and a rape and a murder (two unrelated incidents) right around the corner.

Whoever complains about crime in Scarborough (the part of Toronto where I live now), should have spent a month in Windsor in 1991...

Yeah, the "Glass Towers" is the Renaissance Center and is now the world headquaters for GM. I think it is funny that you were worried about the crime in Windsor. From 1987 until 2002, my day job was as a Paramedic and I worked for the City of Detroit for four years and then took a job with a private full service EMS company that provided the EMS for the City of Highland Park Michigan, which at the time, had the highest murder rate, highest rate of property crime, highest rate of crimes against persons, per capita in Michigan. I actually really enjoyed the experience. Every thing is relative. Anyone who complains about the crime in Scarborough, should have spent a month in Detroit in 1991.

BTW, I did a Search of the events in the Czech Republic that we have been discussing and have found quite a bit of coverage. Check this out.
