Anyone have experience with Oade Bros modified recorders?

Just curious - I've been going all over the place trying to find the best sounding recorder I can for my very limited budget. I'm talking to a guy who has a Oade Bros modified Tascam DA-P1 in perfect shape, and aside from the additional workflow of capturing the audio, I think this may be the route I take over my Zoom H4n because of the high praise I've heard of Oade Bros modifications - I'm just curious as to whether or not any of you have first hand experience with their work.
 
Try a search. The Oade Brothers mod has been discussed several times, favorably as I recall. I have no experience with it myself.

Look on tapersection.com. That may be the wrong name. I have seen whole Oade Bros sections on taper forums.
