Anyone have a breakdown of their HVX200 documentary workflow?

I'm getting ready for another documentary shoot and I'm thinking of the HVX. The obvious problem is P2 storage ambivalence issues. Can anyone share their experience?

here are some scenarios and workflows I've found myself in... they all worked good.... all of them were documentary shoots

2 HVXs, 2 8gig P2 cards, one PC laptop with a harddrive connected..... A cam would roll, fill up, we go offload while B cam was rolling, fill up, go dump, A cam was ready, bring him back out into the wild, roll some more, etc etc etc.... we dumped via USB.... HVX/P2 in PC mode going directly into the laptop via USB cable...... on certain interview setups we would have both A and B cam rolling and shoot until they filled up, go dump both

1 HVX 4 8gig P2 cards, G4 powerbook laptop with P2 card slot, external harddrive... shoot both cards, they fill up, swap with fresh, dump the full ones, re-format, etc etc etc

1 HVX, 1 8gig P2 card, no laptop or harddrive, a sh*tload of minidv tapes.... I had 20 minutes (720 24pN) of "money shot" recording time, once the card was full, that was it.... shot most of the day on minidv tape 24pa, 16X9.... when I seen something badass I switched to 720 HD and grabbed it, got some really cool/cinematic shots in HD.... most of the interview/talking head/random stuff was minidv (which still looked good)

choose your poison.

and good luck

thanks hoofandmouf! im think option 2 will be my poison. have you heard of any larger p2 cards coming out in the next couple of months?

16gig P2's are supposed to be out in May.
CinePorter is due out this Summer.
FireStore is available now.

Don't forget you can shoot DV Rack HD directly to a (PC) laptop if you're not "on the move."
