Anyone got any best practice workarounds for the lack of Encore in Creative Cloud

I know (sadly too late) that creative cloud doesn't have a new version of Encore - something that never occurred to me until I went to burn my first project after signing up for CC, after CS5.

I'm amazed that the excellent method of sending a PP project to Encore from Premiere, has been wrecked.

Belatedly, I've read the various topics explaining the solution, which does seem to have settled down to be install CS6 and then delete it, apart from Encore. However, the Adobe system is simply to export the project, then bring that into an Encore project.

My question is that I really don't want to install CS6 - CC has gone onto a brand new machine, and I just don't wish to waste hours installing and removing a suite of programmes. The old machine had CS5, is CS6 worth installing instead of CS5, which I have available on the shelf?

Now CC has settled down, have any members here discovered a better way to burn DVDs and BRs?

I didn't agree with the 'hire' system CC forces on us, but needed to upgrade, so bit the bullet, but now my old easy workflow has an extra gaffing around stage in it. Adobe really must be stupid. I know they think DVD is dead, but they must have got this wrong, based on the numbers of DVDs I get through!

Yeah stuff goes through phases. You have to jump through a few hoops when things first come out, it matures and you don't think much about it and then when times change and stuff moves forward you have to jump through different hoops to still use it while its becoming yesterdays news.

There is no need to install/uninstall a whole suite to get Encore CS6.

Go to http://prodesigntools.com/adobe-cs6-direct-download-links.html and download Premiere Pro CS6 and launch the installer. When you do that you can choose to install only Encore CS6. I did this yesterday on a clean install of Windows 8.1. FYI, Encore CS6 is included in your CC subscription.

Or go here https://creative.adobe.com/products/premiere log in and download Premiere Pro CS6, but then Premiere Pro CS6 *and* Encore CS6 is installed and that kind of defeats the purpose since you "have" to uninstall Premiere Pro CS6 if you don't need it on the computer. (It's the very same installer as you'll find in the first link.)

Do you still have Encore CS5 in your old system? I don't think there was a single functional difference between Encore CS5 and CS6 and in fact CS5 works better for me.

There were some stability and bug fixes in CS6 IIRC.
I'm curious why Adobe abandoned Encore. Sure disc sales are declining, but there's still a lot of demand and need for discs as a delivery medium. I'm still making a decent chunk of my income from DVD and BluRay authoring (though not with Encore).
Encore itself was always a little frustrating as a program, but it got fairly stable and somewhat useful by CS6. Adobe could have made Encore a really good authoring program if they had made just a few changes. The main one being that you should choose DVD or BluRay at the beginning and then be allowed to fully implement whichever spec you chose. If you wanted to do both, Encore could then export a version to the other format with a list of what would need to be changed. Instead they watered down Encore so it kinda does BluRay, kinda does DVD, but can't do everything in both, and then has some flash bullshit for no good reason. BluRays and DVDs function differently. There are things you can do in one that you can't do in the other and for the most part Encore does neither very well. Still, they didn't have to kill it.

People still request DVDs from me all the time. Seems like Apple & Adobe are in a rush to get rid of that technology but I still need it for my workflow.

In short, Encore is based around code from Sonic. Rovi bought Sonic and the code from Sonic that Encore is based on is no longer developed. So, Encore is dead. Rovi's business is based around streaming. Go figure...

Yes, i hate it too.

If there isn't any obvious differences between 5 and 6, I have 5 in the box already - so I'll stick with that. I can kind of understand the full product not being developed, but adding a burn to DVD function, without the clever menus would really help me. Only about 1% of the DVDs I burn are properly produced with menus - for what I do I just need a DVD quickly that will play - nothing cleverer. A simple button in Premiere would keep me happy.
