Anyone ever shoot in the rain?

A few scenes of mine would look great in the rain + high shutter speed!! ooo! I know about the rain cover and all, but is it enough? Have you ever shot in the rain before? Not like drizzle, like torrential downpour.

you may want to consider shooting from a sheltered location or using an underwater housing in those conditions. high shutter speed and shifting focal legnths in the rain can look pretty spectacular.

I've never shot in the rain on purpose...but I was on a music video set once as a photgrapher and it started to rain pretty bad...
I guess the director knew that, because not only did he have a little canopy, but all the PAs had large umbrellas... So if you shoot in the rain, don't just think about the DVX, remember umbrellas and blankets for the actors! You might think about getting one of these! That's what they had on the set that day...but for "torrential downpours" you might want to get the kind with the plastic flaps on the sides to protect the camera from the elements. The sound guy was hardcore. He stayed in the rain. Either hardcore or an idiot (it was a music video, so they weren't even recording any sound)...

And ironically enough, I think it's CHEAPER (though not as portable) as a raincoat for the camera.
