Anyone else play Guitar Hero?

I played for the first time over my 2 week vacay in Georgia. Pretty fun game, actually. Wish all of the songs were as fun to play as EVEN RATS by The SLIP.

It's pretty fun to look stupid in front of a bunch of people while rocking out and sucking at the game.

ya. its pretty fun, but the lack of great songs is what disapoints me, i liked maybe 10% of the songs on part 1. Havent got part 2 yet, im waiting for the 360 version, but lack of wireless on the 360 guitar is a bummer, might pass on that because of that.

Anyways, it is fun but loses depth because i dont want to learn most of the songs to attempt to beat on harder difficulties. Cowboys from Hell is easly the best song on part 1, that was the opening song for our WFW Ground Zero shows.

Somehow I knew you'd be the first one to answer.

You're right about the game losing depth. Which was why I played Even Rats like fifty times and ended up being able to play it on Expert.

I played Part 2, as well, and it's pretty boring as far as songs go; a lot of older tunes.

By the way: Even Rats > Anything else. COUGH

Ill always be first in video game topics ;)

Im more of a classic guy when it comes to music, but not the junk they throw on these things. Im sick of AC/DC, i cant listen to Welcome to the Jungle one more time or ill blow my brains out. And then the rest of the generic garbage sucks. Ive been into some wiereder stuff latly because of lack of finding good older stuff to listen too. My favorite stuff would never be on these games. Like Dokken's Sunless Days, thats my genre really.

where is this goin? im not sure, ive got stuff on my mind. LOL. HIYA!

*runs away.

You'll probably like Guitar Hero 2, then. It's got a lot of classics that I haven't the foggiest about.

Shame on me.

"Shout at the Devil" - Mötley Crüe (ugh, cant listen to)
"Mother" - Danzig † ( Still a great track, not worn out)
"Surrender" - Cheap Trick (they have better songs)
"Woman" - Wolfmother (not a fan of at all)
"Tonight I'm Gonna Rock You Tonight" - Sp?nal Tap † (lol)
"Strutter" - KISS † (worst band ever)
"Heart-Shaped Box" - Nirvana (decent song, but not a fan of them)
"Message in a Bottle" - The Police (atleast its not Roxanne)
"You Really Got Me" - Van Halen (they have MUCH better songs)
"Carry On Wayward Son" - Kansas (another song that belongs on Late night Infomercials)
"Monkey Wrench" - Foo Fighters (they have better songs that i enjoy much more)
"Them Bones" - Alice in Chains (PERFECTION! top 5 bands in my mind. A perfect example of greatness in a sea of genericness of the "grunge" era. Music that stands the test of time and cant be "carbondated" by just listening)
"Search and Destroy" - Iggy Pop and The Stooges (no thanks)
"Tattooed Love Boys" - The Pretenders (nope)
"War Pigs" - Black Sabbath (Ozzy solo stuff is so much better, why this)
"Cherry Pie" - Warrant (more garbage i cringe at listening to, another example of generic rock riffs that should be blown up forever)
"Who Was in My Room Last Night?" - Butthole Surfers † (not familiar with this specific track, but they are good)
"Girlfriend" - Matthew Sweet † (not familiar)
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" - The Rolling Stones † (not a big fan, dated imo)
"Sweet Child O' Mine" - Guns N' Roses (Why oh why, this is worse than Welcome to the jungle to me, GREATNESS but i cant listen to this again like i can with his epics)
"Killing in the Name" - Rage Against the Machine (worn out and dated)
"John the Fisherman" - Primus (not familiar with this specific track)
"Freya" - The Sword (huh?)
"Bad Reputation" - Thin Lizzy (why)
"Last Child" - Aerosmith † (Tweener on these guys, they are great, but wont listen again)
"Crazy on You" - Heart (ugh)
"Trippin' On a Hole in a Paper Heart" - Stone Temple Pilots (of all their amazing songs)
"Rock This Town" - Stray Cats (another dated turd)
"Jessica" - The Allman Brothers Band † (this is what belongs on here)
"Stop" - Jane's Addiction (Not a fan at all)
"Madhouse" - Anthrax (greatness)
"Carry Me Home" - The Living End (cant remember if this is the song im thinking of)
"Laid to Rest" - Lamb of God † (really good)
"Psychobilly Freakout" - The Reverend Horton Heat
"YYZ" - Rush (of all the songs, cmon now, Rush is arguably the best musically talent band there is. All that music comes from 3 people)
"Beast and the Harlot" - Avenged Sevenfold (an example of rising out of mediocrity in genre plagued by it)
"Institutionalized" - Suicidal Tendencies † (not familiar with this specific track)
"Misirlou" - Dick Dale (great, but who can listen again?)
"Hangar 18" - Megadeth (PERFECTION!)
"Free Bird" - Lynyrd Skynyrd † (Cant listen to this again)

then theres a Drist track on there i know, which is decent.

but doesnt look like id have enough fun with this one.

War Pigs is a fun one. Otherwise, I can't really get into it at all. I remember playing War Pigs at a party and people started piling into the room because they knew the song.

IMO the greatest rythem game of all time is Gitaroo-Man. All original tracks of greatness. The gameplay was perfect and i still havnt mastered it , stuck on the Bone Trio for over 3 years on master mode. lol

I totally forgot they threw a Slip song on part two. Hmm... might have to pick that up.

Anyway, just played part one for the first time this weekend, now I'm hooked. It's ridiculous.

Which SLIP song is on part two?

That band is pretty nice, truth be told. I've been stuck on Even Rats for weeks. Can't get the "oooooh aaaaaaah ooooooh" part out of my head.

I wouldn't say I'm at expert but I placed pretty high in the GH tournament at QuakeCon last year. It's probably my favorite game of the past few years. Especially the sequel. Shadows Fall and Dethklok make for great warm ups. If you don't want to play on the higher difficulties, I can't imagine why you'd even bother. The challenge is what's so fun. Great multiplayer game too. Cheaper than hiring a real band.

If you'd like to get to playing Expert asap, start on the first game on the Expert difficulty at the top of the list and just start working your way down. Your hands will catch on sooner than you think. If you can't nail one, go back to Hard and rip it up. Then go back to expert. Take fifteen minute breaks between sets of three songs each. You'll be a master in no time.

:-)

""Free Bird" - Lynyrd Skynyrd † (Cant listen to this again)"

So friggin hard to beat, I had to play it like 8 times b/f I got through it all.

Wait, isn't Even Rats on Guitar Hero 2? I haven't played the second one, but through the first one I didn't see it. Maybe I'm wrong.

Anyway, great band, I'm also a big fan of Children of December, personally.

I'd rather just play a real guitar, start a band, and bang a bunch of chicks... but that's just me...

yeah but when you cant do that... a $70 1.5pd, piece of plastic with colored buttons will do.

Oh I found it:
