Anyone certified in FCPX yet?

Has anyone taken any of the FCPX certification exams yet?

If so, did you pass? Was it difficult? What did you do to prepare? Any recommendations for those of us who are considering it?

If not, are you planning to take it/them? What are you doing to prepare?

Thanks.

I've taken and passed the trainer exam, I have 4 students who've taken and passed the Pro User test. Some folks memorize easier than others, some test better than others, it's all subjective.

The test "is" the book "Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro X" from Peachpit Press. That is the text book for Apple Authorized Training, and all questions come directly from that book, using the same wording, etc. So if you want to take the test, know that book. Do it cover to cover at least twice.

It's not difficult, but it is detailed, you will need to really, really know the application well. Here's a link to the practice questions out of the book.

There used to be two certifications, "Level 1" (intro book) and "Level 2" (advanced book). Both tests can only be taken at an Apple Authorized Training Center (AATC). If I understand the new tests correctly, you get an hour and a half time limit, 80 questions, and 80% or 85% to pass. It's a pass/fail, Apple does not keep the percentage you passed of failed by on record, just that you passed.

You can then opt in to be listed on the Apple Certified Professionals Registry (does not list trainers, as of Jan 2, 2012 will not list legacy certs).

There is now a third certification called an Associate Certification. This one can be taken at home, not as tough, good for the education market, graphic designers who want something to show but don't need to be full on editors, etc.

If anyone is in the Miami area, I'm teaching FCP X and Motion there next week (starts Dec 12). See www.Go4Cast.com for info. If you're in Louisiana, I teach the courses via LSU in Baton Rouge.

The FCP X Level 2 book/exam is not out yet, but the Motion 5 book/test is out now, FYI.
