Looking for feedback about the experience. There seems to be, in addition to general choices regarding condition, price variability within each used condition category. However, there usually is no further information to understand exactly why one is priced higher than another. Is calling or emailing recommended in these instances? All information welcome and appreciated.

I bought a ton of Nikon gear from them back in the late 1990's via catalog. I have not purchased anything off of the website but would not hesitate to do so in the least. At least back then if you called and asked about a specific item from the catalog they would get it out an describe all of the various issues said item might have. Truly top tier customer service.
The only reason I haven't purchased from them lately has been lack of need coupled with a lack of funds.

I have recently bought 8 lenses from KEH. The condition is amazing. The customer service is great and the rating system is very fair.
Little price differences usually come down to cosmetic wear, at least where the lenses are concerned. I've bought from KEH and had nothing but good experiences.

What's funny about their rating system is that it's possible to buy a BGN lens with fewer actuations (which they do not check) but more cosmetic blemishes for less money than a cosmetically near-perfect EXC+ with much more actual use. He explained that the reason they ignore shutter count is because the shutter can be replaced but that will not affect the cam's "odometer".
Anywho, I ordered a used Canon 5d MKi. (Yes, comparing a 1ds with a 5di was time consuming.) I am so excited to be going full frame.
