Anyone building or recently built a new editing machine? What are your specs?

I'm looking at building a new computer that can edit 4k/5k footage from Red and Black Magic cameras and for coloring in Da Vinci Resolve. Was curious what everyone else has or recommends? :)

to edit RED, there is a special card (Red Rocket) so you can investigate requirement to support such cards.
for blackmagic, any high end pc will fit.
currently i7 3770k is the preffered processor for it power/price ratio.
you can easily put 32gig of ram since the price of DDR3 is very low. (make sure the motherboard support it)
You can also check for a bunch of cheap 240gig SSD (kingston V200+) in a raid array to get both speed and size but regular hard disk are ok too
since these codec are higly compressed and do not require excessive bandwith.

I'm building a new PC in July. I'm buying all my stuff from NCIX as they have a far better tech support and return policy than newegg, which has been slacking off a lot lately. I pick out all the parts on Newegg, as I find it a better shopping experience, and then I go over to NCIX and buy them (including price matching).

What kind of budget are you looking at?

The only thing I haven't decided on is what video card to get. It is going to be a single card, since most video editing software doesn't really care much about multiple GPUs, and I want something I can use for gaming as well. The Nvidia Titan looks nice, but it's $1000 on its own!

Edit: I should also mention that I am building an Intel Haswell based system (Z87 chipset) and I am waiting for motherboards that have Thunderbolt on them, as the BM4k has a Thunderbolt port on it.

How much do you estimate this build would cost?

I have a MacPro with dual quad core Xeon processors, 2.8GHz, 20GB RAM, and a 2GB Quadro 4000 graphics card. Dual booting to windows 7 pro, 64 bit. 4 x 7200 SATA drives.

I'm thinking about another NLE: i7, with 16 or 32 GB RAM and a cheaper Nvidea graphics card also with windows 7.
Can I expect a significant difference?

I've got a 6-core Sandy Bridge E 3930k processor (x79 socket 2011). I'd recommend picking up the Ivy Bridge Extreme 6-core in the fall for socket 2011 and x79 chipset, since Haswell is mostly an upgrade for mobile and doesn't help desktop performance much. The x79 chipset allows up to 64gb of RAM. Plus, the extra cores on the socket 2011 extreme setups are more valuable for multi-threaded work.

Anyway:

SB-E 3930k 6-core (Asus R4E motherboard)
64gb RAM
Nvidia GTX 670 2gb GPU
256gb Samsung 840 Pro SSD
Lian Li case with Hot Swap intenral Bay
6x HDDs (2-4tb)
USB 3.0 Externals
3x 24" IPS monitors

Running Hackintosh for use of FCP 7.0 and FCP X but do most work in native PC side with Premiere CS6. Hackintosh works great and needed it for my slow transition back to PC editing on Adobe, but also in case apple surprises with next version of FCP X.

I built the whole thing not include monitors or software for under $2K and it's screaming fast
